Style staple Timberland and Westside Chicago clothing hub Dream Town collaborated to bring Dream Big, Give Big, an inaugural event for both, to Chicago’s Westside on Saturday (Sept. 16). The summer back to school event took over Dream Town’s new location at 4042 W. Madison (Madison and Pulaski) for an afternoon that served the community, introduced the beautiful display of the new store and unveiled the new product line of Timberland for this fall and winter.
With plenty of giveaways and services available for the guests of the afternoon the event was heavily attended, while music turned the store into an in-house all ages party.
Dreamtown partnered with Timberland for the special event that is designed to give back to the youth of Chicago and the community. During the event, there was a panel where members of the creative community shared their experiences, face painting and free haircuts for students, live shoe painting and more.
The panel featured Grammy-winning artist GLC, singer-songwriter Kaye Fox, the Alan Brothers of the Remix Project, B96 radio host Gabe and artist Brandon Breaux, who shared on their crafts and inspired those in attendance to continue to push toward their dreams and shared light on how they maneuvered Chicago, while it contributed to who they are personally and professionally.
Students and community members on hand were able to enjoy face painting, free haircuts, and balloon animals and vegan eats catered to introduce an alternative to traditional food options.
Opportunities to receive products from Timberland were available throughout the duration of the event. A free raffle was held, which provided guests the opportunities to win a pair of limited release boots from the Flyroam Sneaker Boot collection modeled by coordinators of the event throughout the day. The boot, available in multiple colors, is built to take on a modern identity and features technologies such as the new Aerocore energy system. Other giveaways included a paid raffle where the proceeds went toward westside non-profit Association House of Chicago.
Representatives of Association House High School were present to encourage education and provide the opportunity to enroll in a curriculum that will lead to a high school diploma. Association House of Chicago serves a multi-cultural community by providing comprehensive, collaborative and effective programs in English and Spanish. We promote health and wellness and create opportunities for educational and economic advancement.
On hand were members of Power 92 Chicago and Revolt TV, the latter which captured interviews with present personalities and contributors to feature in an upcoming documentary promoting positivity in the Chicago communities that is not commonly seen in national headlines.
