Months ago we learned that Lady Gaga was going to be the halftime entertainment of Super Bowl 51. She’s a great performer, it’s deserved and very likely will keep us all thoroughly entertained as we reload our plates and cups of beer. However, the powers that be – a.k.a #BlackTwitter – made sure their ballots were cast for their SB51 choice, who happen to be pulling for the Atlanta Falcons in Migos.
In case you been under a rock, Migos have the hottest song of the early 2017 in “Bad & Boujee,” have released another banger to follow it up in T-Shirt and have enough hits to perform for an hour. With that amazing run, along with their incredible popularity among rap fans, a change.org petition has been initiated to boot the fame monster from the show and replace her with Quavo, Offset and Takeoff.
Now let’s be honest, the petition gives a good laugh and could make a strong case but it won’t happen. For years hip-hop has been overlooked for providing the artist that could hold down the biggest stage of the year so it’s no surprise it happened again. But the decision doesn’t make since at all. Hip-hop is one of the most, if not the most, popular genres in all of music and their stars have transitioned from wax to commercials, fashion, and much more.
While Migos may not have been the choice of the entertainment panel if the NFL decided to look at hip-hop for the spot, there are plenty others who could serve the position well. Check out who we would like to see in this edition of The Seven.
