I$O Indies are reintroducing themselves to the hip-hop scene with the mini-movie, “Reflections,” which is a tribute to the late legend Phife Dawg, who serves as one of their influences.
The visual aesthetics of the mini-movie bring the sounds of the three-track EP to life as the traditional East Coast sound, and messages of the late ATCQ member, are infused over the course of three scenes: mobbing with the boys on the block in a black and white motif, an intimate setting of the journey via escalators and ending with a final stand draped by the classic The Low End Theory artwork. Each scene sewn together by Phife’s words in a clever flip of stations.
Hailing from Brooklyn, I$O Indies are looking to represent their borough with the sound of the area within the 1990s. Nostalgic in their delivery and sharp with their lyrics, the duo of Ant and Dill are serving what made their hometown a staple and pillar in hip-hop.
